The Still Places

Some of my favourite writing places are the small, quiet ones —
a window overlooking the bush,
a café in the morning sun,
a beach I walk before I write,
a desk where everything slows.

Every so often, Mem and I run away for the weekend —
a new Airbnb, a different landscape —
just far enough from daily pressures
to hear what the writing wants to say.

These are the still places where my writing deepens, where stories settle,
and I find my way back to myself, to Mem,
and to the rhythm of words.
