Writing on the Road

Travelling slows everything down.
It sharpens my attention and softens my edges — a reminder that writing often begins with simply noticing: a shoreline, a street, a feeling.
Wherever I go, my iPad comes with me.
These are a few of the places, moments, and stories I’ve gathered along the way.

Spain

A week on the Camino — walking in the steps of pilgrims over centuries,

steady rhythms, long silences, a gentle reset,

and the unexpected pleasure of making new friends along the way.

Greece

Hydra, walking in the footsteps of Leonard Cohen.

Clear waters sparkling in the sun, imagining all those who came before me — artists, wanderers, dreamers.

Istanbul

Colour, sound, movement — a city that insists you stay awake to every detail.

Food everywhere, beckoning me to stop, taste, and pay attention.

The kind of place where every corner feels like the beginning of a story.

Mexico

Jungle paths, hammocks, starry nights, and a reunion with my siblings —

sharing stories in the dark, in the warm, sultry night air.

Victoria – Vancouver Island

Returning to where I once lived, reminding myself of the beauty and magic of the harbour light, the wide-open ocean, and the mountains rising across the Strait in Washington.

A place that tugs at old memories, inviting them back to the surface.
