Memoir in Progress
My memoir traces the emotional inheritance that runs through my family — the patterns of care, responsibility and self-protection passed down through generations, and the quieter longings that lived beneath them. I’m exploring how early stories took hold in my life, how they echoed forward, and what it takes to begin rewriting a story you’ve lived inside for decades.
Mem and Me
My memoir has a name — Mem — because she feels like a partner rather than a project. I’m learning how to be in a committed relationship with her: to stay when it’s uncomfortable, to listen when she’s quiet, and to keep showing up even when I’d rather run.
Some days Mem and I argue. Some days we avoid each other. And some days we sit quietly and find a way forward.
Staying with Mem has taught me as much about trust and vulnerability in a long term relationship as it has about writing a book — and about rewriting the stories that shaped me.
