Gail Rice – Psychologist, Writer, Wanderer

About Gail

Gail Rice is a psychologist and writer based in Sydney, Australia.  After decades of listening to the stories of others, she began turning more deliberately toward her own — exploring the quiet, complicated truths of ageing, desire and emotional struggle, and the narratives that shape who we become.

Approaching her seventies, she realised she needed a jolt — something to wake her up and propel her into the next decade. So, she hired an escort and wrote about the experience, opening conversations about ageing, intimacy, and desire that she had long supported in others.

Her work explores the stories we inherit, the roles we learn, and the moments we choose to rewrite them. She believes that with curiosity, compassion and trust we can restory our lives at any age.

Gail’s essays have appeared in The Times (London), The Sydney Morning Herald, Daily Mail (UK), Oldster Magazine, and Mamamia.

She has been featured on the New York Times Modern Love Podcast, ABC Ladies We Need to Talk, and at events including Not Dead Yet and Menopause Is Not a Use-By Date.

She is currently working on her memoir.
